ARTIST HORSE
Inspired by the novel "Memoirs of a Drum Horse" (by Samuelle D.H)
SYNOPSIS
Voltaire, a one-of-a-kind stallion, shares with humor 20 years of his life as an artist horse in the years 1890: discharged from the military, then converted into a
circus horse in equestrian cabarets, in Paris, then New York and Montreal. This show truly is live cinema with 18 artists and 15 horses performing before your eyes. Acrobats, musicians, dancers,
side-saddle riders, Haute Ecole riders and fire breathers share the scene with the Gypsy stallion Voltaire who depicts with philosophy and friendliness his vision of humans, their love, their
bravery and folly, while sharing his love for Opérette, a beautiful Frisian mare.
Come see the show within a beautiful heated theatre, equipped with 350 seats and a spectacular 22m wide giant screen, about an hour away from Montreal city-center.
Dive into immersive 3D decors recreating life at the time of the Belle Epoque, and relive pieces of the life of this stallion, in the form of a theatre play.
One of the distinctive features of our park: among our 15 artist horses, a third comes from our refuge, and were rescued from slaughter or adopted and rehabilitated
for the scene, according to their past and handicaps, because they too are entitled to a second chance! A touching show performed only a few meters away from you (the scene is perfectly
visible from every seat, the seats are unnumbered.) in a festive environment which will light up your heart, your eyes and your mind.
Enjoy the show!
Cavaland's refuge was approved by Galahad, the Quebecker association for horses protection. The refuge of the "Blue Ribbons" (horses saved from slaughter or
abandoned that we have saved, and several retired equine stars that were adopted by the Park), take part in this heart warming show and perform their new profession of artist horse with grace and
kindness. These stars can now be visited by the spectators who have recognized them and followed their progress and have helped our actions by sponsoring a Blue Ribbon (a sponsorship program
exists in Cavaland, inviting you to get closer to horses everyday from 49$ a month, giving you access to your protégé once a week and take care of it as if it were yours!)
You can recognize our rescued artist horses by the blue ribbon they wear on stage.
